Tamale ICT calls for support

Tamale ICT calls for support
The Northern Regional Manager of the Tamale Information Communication Technology Training Center, Iddrisu Abubakari has appealed to Government, Non-Governmental Organizations and Philanthropist to come to the aid of the center with more computers to enable it facilitate its operations effectively.
He said the center only has 23 computers for both internet service and the training of students are woefully insufficient. The center which is powered by Ghana Community Network Service (GCnet) was established in 2008 to meet the ICT needs of the people in the region.
According to Abubakari, additional computers will help ensure effective teaching and learning as well as facilitate easy access to the global village at the center. The manager of the ICT center hopes that the center quest of providing ICT education to the youth in the region will be the thing of the past as appropriate steps are outlined to ensure effective literacy in ICT among the youth in the region and the country as a whole.
The center currently runs both certificate and Diploma programmes in data management among other ICT related courses.
Mr. Abubakari further appealed to the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly to support them with more classrooms outside the main auditorium of the center. He said the center pursuit to educate the youth in ICT will be a mirage if stakeholders in the region fail to support the center with the requisite facilities.
Speaking to Fiila News in an exclusive interview, Abubakari announced that the center will soon affiliate to the Ghana Telecom University to run degree programmes in ICT.
He therefore advised parent to encourage their ward in ICT education to be able to meet the demand of the global market completion.
